We are authors, publishing professionals, readers, and union supporters, and we are proud to express our full support for the Hachette Workers Coalition (HWC). We support their right to unionize and stand in solidarity with their demands for livable wages, better working conditions, caps on workload hours, AI protections, follow-through on DEI policies, and more. 

Hachette workers deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. The way publishing currently works is unsustainable, and we know that having a union is the best possible way for HWC members to enact democratic change at Hachette. We urge you to voluntarily recognize their union and to speedily meet them at the bargaining table in good faith, in order to ensure a future that protects Hachette workers. We are excited about the HWC union and will be eager to support Hachette books made by union labor!
